WASHINGTON – Leaders of three American Catholic organizations hope a million people pray and promote the daily rosary during the month of October for “an end to legal abortion in America and a wave of support for pregnant women,” according to their announcement on the joint effort.

The three leaders – Michael Warsaw, CEO of EWTN; Father Francis J. Hoffman, CEO of Relevant radio; and Tim Busch, CEO of Napa Institute – launched the joint effort on the respective websites of their organization.

In the American Catholic Church, October is observed as Respect for life month and the first Sunday of the month is Respect Life Sunday, which this year is October 3.

In addition, the month of October of each year is dedicated to the rosary. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7.

“The Supreme Court of the United States seized the Dobbs case in December which could lead to the annulment of Roe v. Wade, the judges will need the grace of wisdom and courage to face the problems honestly, ”said the announcement from Warsaw, the father. Hoffmann and Busch.

On December 1, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a Mississippi appeal to maintain its ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, and supporters of the law urge the court to reconsider its previous abortion rulings, including Roe v. The Wade decision legalizing abortion nationwide.

The CEOs said they hope that many other Catholic organizations “will join this effort by praying and promoting the daily rosary in October for this purpose, and thereby mobilize millions of Americans in prayer.”

This year’s Respect for Life Month, promoted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, highlights the example of Saint Joseph as part of the Year of Saint Joseph declared by Pope Francis.

“As a faithful protector of Jesus and Mary”, Saint Joseph is “a deep reminder of our own call to welcome, safeguard and defend the precious gift of God of human life”, declared Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann from Kansas City, Kansas, who is the chair of the USCCB’s committee on pro-life activities.
