It’s always a good time when Viewhot topics become hot subjects, and today was one of those days. The ladies gathered around the table today to discuss Pope Francis’ recent declaration on sex as a less serious sin, ready to express their own views on sex outside of marriage, during the priesthood, and more.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg started the heated discussion, bracing for the array of Catholic-themed humor that was about to come to her.

“Pope Francis has everyone frowning by declaring that sex outside of marriage is ‘not the gravest sin’, which, you know! Goldberg joked. “And everyone was like, ‘Wait, what? Because he’s the spiritual head of the church and everything.

Replacement host Ana Navarro wasted no time turning to humor in the light of the news.

“All I have to say is thank goodness! Because maybe I won’t burn in hell, ”she joked.

Joy Behar focused less on the sinful side of the issue, instead praising the Pope for his new take on religion.

“I love this Pope so much, I would like him to co-host here on Fridays. I really like. is he vaccinated? Yes he is, of course, ”added Behar, ready to welcome him on his next visit to New York. “But as a person brought up in the Catholic religion, the horse came out of the stable. He’s been out for a while now. Get with the program! No one waits until they are married to have sex. I mean, come on.

Navarro wasn’t finished, resuming the conversation to say he probably had, uh, experiences.

“Also remember that he has been a priest since 1969 in Argentina,” Navarro said. “This pope has seen things! If we got rid of all the priests who have had sex outside of the priesthood, my poodle would end up doing the homily.

“It’s not natural to suppress that! It’s, it’s… ”Sara Haines stepped into the speech, unable to continue her argument as her laughter spiraled out of control.

“I think we read what he said a bit too much,” said Sunny Hostin, still the voice of reason. “What he said was that the sins of the flesh are not that bad. The context is that there was a French archbishop who resigned because he had some kind of relationship with a woman …

“Sexual!” Haines interjected. “Sinful relationship of flesh.”

“Well, he denied the adultery, but he said it was a little hug, a massage. It was a massage.

Behar was tired of beating around the bush: “It’s close to sex!” Preliminary ”, she reasoned.

“The Pope said there was a sin, but not the worst,” Hostin continued. At this point, the hosts got out of hand – while Behar theorized that the woman could have been married, Navarro was just grateful that the affair hadn’t been with “a little boy.”

And on that note, Goldberg put an end to all talk about sex by sending the show on commercial break. Hush!

View airs weekdays on ABC at 11 / 10c.
